Community Update – Mortlake High Street

We are aware that residents may have noticed a significant police presence in the Mortlake High Street area this morning.

Police were called to a report of a serious assault within a residential address shortly after 9am. Emergency services attended and one man was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A male has been detained and enquiries are ongoing.

We understand incidents of this nature can cause concern. However, this was an incident involving individuals known to each other and was contained within a private residential property. There is no information at this time to suggest any wider risk to the public.

Road closures and an increased police presence have been necessary to allow officers to carry out enquiries, preserve evidence and ensure the safety of those involved. We thank residents and local businesses for their patience while this work is completed.

Neighbourhood officers will remain in the area throughout the day to provide reassurance and answer any concerns from the community.
